The 9th edition of the RTR Conference 2026, held from 10–12 February in Brussels, once again brought together the latest achievements and future outlook of EU-funded and Horizon EU projects. The event is key for presenting advances in areas essential to the future of road transport, including Green Vehicles, Urban Mobility, Logistics, Intelligent Transport Systems, Safety, Automated Road Transport, and Batteries. This year’s edition offered a comprehensive snapshot of how EU research is evolving to generate benefits to the environment, economy, and European society overall.
Following three days of presentations, discussions, and networking activities, the conference closed with impressive participation figures: 700+ participants onsite, 400+ participants online, 95 projects presented, and 32 parallel sessions. Within such an umbrella, BATSS was featured for a second consecutive year, reflecting its growing relevance within the EU battery safety and performance landscape.
BATSS at the EU-INGENIOuS Cluster Booth
BATSS was presented as part of the EU‑INGENIOuS cluster booth, where visitors could explore:
- Project flyers
- Technical brochures
- Key results on battery safety, sustainability, and performance
The booth provided an excellent opportunity for networking, allowing our team to engage with industry experts, policymakers, and researchers interested in next‑generation safe and sustainable battery technologies.

Moderating panel sessions
In addition, our project coordinator, Iosu Cendoya from CIDETEC Energy Storage, played the moderator role in the parallel session 15 “Innovative battery management systems for next generation vehicles”, focused on challenges and opportunities in battery safety, improving performance, and ensuring sustainability, contributing to Europe’s vision of a greener and more competitive battery industry.
