BATSS was proudly represented at the poster session of the Transport Research Arena (TRA) conference in Budapest by Mikel Arrinda from CIDETEC Energy Storage, the coordinator of the BATSS project.
Held from 18–21 May 2026 in Budapest, Hungary, the Transport Research Arena (TRA) is Europe’s largest transport research and innovation conference. Bringing together researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, and mobility stakeholders from across the continent, TRA serves as a key platform for showcasing cutting-edge developments and fostering collaboration towards a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient transport system.
During the event, Mikel presented the poster titled “Standard Identification and Drive Cycle Definition for Battery Systems of Non-Common Applications: Off-road, Marine and Stationary.” The work highlights BATSS EU’s ongoing efforts to establish standardised usage profiles for battery systems operating in niche applications.
The poster was developed through the collaboration of several BATSS project partners and researchers, including Manex Larrañaga, Katarzyna-Anna Michalow-Mauke, Hartmut Popp, Luis Alberto Peñaloza, Iosu Cendoya, and Mikel Arrinda.
Beyond presenting the project’s technical achievements, the conference also provided valuable opportunities for networking and dissemination. During TRA 2026, Mikel met with David Twomey from the European Automotive Research Partners Association (EARPA) to discuss current developments in battery research and to promote BATSS project activities among key stakeholders in the European transport and innovation ecosystem.
Participation in TRA 2026 reinforces BATSS’s commitment to advancing battery standardisation and fostering collaboration across the transport, energy, and research sectors. By engaging with the wider European research community, the project continues to support the development of robust methodologies that will accelerate the adoption of sustainable battery technologies for diverse and challenging applications.
