Today, on 8 April 2026, the EU‑INGENIOuS Battery Cluster event series continued with a new edition, this time led by our sister project NEXTBAT.
The event took the form of an interactive and collaborative roadmap workshop, entitled “Battery Sector Roadmap Workshop”, designed to foster dialogue, alignment, and joint strategic thinking across the cluster. The workshop brought together technical partners from the sister projects of the cluster: BATSS, NEXTBAT, VERSAPRINT, TEMPEST, and EXTENDED, each addressing complementary expertise, addressing key aspects of the explotation and scaling up of their next‑generation battery systems and their value chains.
The collaborative workshop had different objectives:
- Identify key trends shaping the battery sector
- Highlight major bottlenecks, risks, and challenges
- Define future research and innovation (R&I) priorities
- Strengthen collaboration and clustering activities across projects
Representing BATSS, we had MIBA Battery Systems, responsible for exploitation activities, providing technical perspectives on the current requirements in the battery sector and industrial needs.

Discussions focused on the trends, changes, and emerging requirements in the battery sector. These are expected to look at short-term developments and longer-term industrial needs. All project participants explored technical and systemic challenges that may slow down progress, alongside opportunities to unlock innovation and accelerate the deployment of future battery systems.

The sister project NEXTBAT, led the workshop discussions. The collaboration with all partners supported exchanging on which technological, industrial, circular and other areas should be closely monitored.
These insights will produce a battery roadmap. More outputs will be shared through NEXTBAT and the sister project channels.
The EU-INGENIOuS Battery Cluster event series is key for shared learning, increased visibility, and coordinated progress. Supports collaboration across EU projects and supporting Europe’s transition towards sustainable, resilient, and innovative battery value chains. Stay tuned for more!
