From June 3–5, Stuttgart, Germany, became the heart of the global battery community, hosting The Battery Show Europe 2025 — the continent’s largest conference dedicated to advanced batteries, EV technology, and energy storage. Among the industry leaders and innovators present was CIDETEC Energy Storage, proudly representing the BATSS project and its groundbreaking contributions to battery safety and performance.
BATSS innovations on display
One of the highlights at the CIDETEC stand was the BATSS power switch prototype, a smart and safety-critical component developed within the project. More than just an on/off switch, this innovative device is embedded in the battery system to intelligently manage energy flow while preventing electrical faults. As part of the project’s Safe-by-Design approach, the power switch plays a crucial role in enabling real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and modular scalability across different voltage levels. It reflects BATSS’s broader ambition to deliver safer, smarter, and more adaptable battery architectures for the next generation of electric mobility and energy storage applications. The device drew interest from industry experts and researchers alike, eager to understand how BATSS is addressing challenges across thermal, electrical, and mechanical domains with a Safe-by-Design approach.

Advancing European battery technology
The conference featured an extensive agenda across five key thematic tracks:
- Battery Manufacturing and Production
- Battery Materials and Components
- Battery Technology
- Battery Testing and Safety
- Environmental Impact and Sustainability
Each of these themes aligns closely with the BATSS mission, particularly in the areas of battery architecture innovation, predictive maintenance, and environmental responsibility.
Participation in flagship events like The Battery Show Europe is a cornerstone of BATSS’s communication and dissemination strategy. By engaging with global stakeholders, sharing prototypes, and building new connections, the project ensures its innovations have a real-world impact, shaping the future of electrification across sectors such as automotive, off-road mobility, and marine vessels.
Stay tuned as we continue to push the boundaries of safe and sustainable battery technologies, and follow our journey toward safer, smarter, and circular battery systems for Europe.
