On 2-3 December 2025, the BATSS consortium held its General Assembly, hosted by our partners at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), in Vienna. The General Assembly marked an important gathering as partners reviewed the latest insights and achievements from the second year of work toward delivering a safe and innovative next-generation battery system for transport and mobile applications.
Throughout the two-day meeting, partners discussed updates on management and technical progress, with a strong focus on manufacturing and design, testing and simulations, and the ongoing work towards the final prototype. Discussions also addressed the mechanical, thermal, electrical, and safety aspects required for a robust and validated system.
The agenda also centred on Safe-by-design principles, life cycle assessment and recycling procedures, crucial transversal activities for ensuring that the BATSS solution is validated with sustainability and safety at its core. Several communication and dissemination activities were also highlighted, in which partners discussed upcoming big events and clustering opportunities to attend, such as European Automotive Research Partners Association (EARPA) meetings, RTR conference, and preparations for an upcoming joint webinar with EU-INGENIOUS sister projects. The General Assembly also included a dedicated workshop on key exploitable results, exploring future opportunities for the update of BATSS technology.
Finally, partners also enjoyed a guided visit to the AIT laboratories, gaining insights into ongoing research activities and exchanging ideas on processes, an enriching experience that further strengthened collaboration across the consortium.

As BATSS now enters its final year, partners are looking ahead with enthusiasm to the validation, scaling-up, and business development phases that will bring these groundbreaking solutions closer to market. Many more tangible results are expected soon.
